This 3D scholarly edition was created by Louise Tharandt (louise.tharandt@hu-berlin.de)

The Project:

The history and reconstruction of the Düwelsteene are part of the PURE3D project of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Maastricht University. The project was funded by the PDI-SSH (Platform Digitale Infrastructuur–Social Sciences and Humanities). To show interactive 3D content online, the Voyager 3D viewer is used, which is part of the Smithsonian Digitization Program.

The Models:

The basis of the reconstructions is the image based model from 2017 created by Leo Klinke and belongs to the Altertumskommission für Westfalen (AKO), part of the Landschaftsverband Westfalen-Lippe (LWL).

The reconstruction models were built by Louise Tharandt, as visualisations and research models for her master thesis in digital and computational archaeology (Archäoinformatik) at the University of Cologne in 2022. For the thesis she also built the website 3Duewelsteene to show the 3D models as a kind of appendix for the masters thesis.

The Sources:

All sources used for research and text are listed at the bottom of the articles.

The images of the Düwelsteene were used with the kind permission of the Altertumskommission für Westfalen, which is stated in the image captions. All other images have been created by the author, Louise Tharandt.
